After the Floods

After the floods

Ipswich Turf Club has rebounded remarkably quickly after the floods. Thoroughbreds were back racing in Ipswich two weeks after the worst natural disaster in the region for 4 decades. The second meeting back at Ipswich was conducted last Friday 4 February and while two chutes are still affected and the admin offices are undergoing some repairs, racing on the course proper has proceeded with barely a hitch.

The two recent meetings at Ipswich have seen the introduction of Tattsbet facilities at the track. Ipswich is the first racetrack in Australia to introduce Galaxy machines and along with them, significantly more information and options for the punter. At the track the punter now gets options of bookmaker betting, totalisator fixed price betting, and tote betting as well as improved information on racing around the country.

The ITC is now continuing full steam ahead with planning for significant upcoming racing events. The famous Ipswich Cup meeting is on June 18th and is the final meeting of the Winter Carnival at Ipswich. Labour Day racing is scheduled for May 2nd followed by the Legs / Eddies Day on May 7th. A new meeting for 2011 is the Fashion and Funk Friday on May 13th - which is the new date for the Ipswich Show Holiday. The Apprenticeships Queensland Tradesman’s Expo is on Friday 20th May when the Ipswich Festival Cup will also be run.  After losing a number of meetings due to rain and natural disasters over the Summer the ITC is looking ahead to a massive Winter Carnival culminating with the Ipswich Cup on June 18th.
